Love it. I love Age of Adz and this single sounds in the same vein just with more restraint.

^ dude nice. Bookended by 2 of his absolute best, and everything between isn't too far behind. That being said I think Impossible Soul IS his best in scope and songwriting, as well as Adz as a whole, really. Just a wonderfully layered album with a ton to appreciate, always surprised when I see/hear it get hate.

I think the title track on Age of Adz is his best work.

I think the title track, Vesuvius and I Want to Be Well are straight up his best work. Impossible Soul rules but it's not even top 3 on that album, which is just how good that shit is

...just depends what mood I'm in really. Adz is top tier for that intensely personal, fractured, scattered feeling but All Delighted People is more wholesome without going cornball like Sufjan sometimes does. tbh I might give it the nod just for Owl and the Tanager, his best song

Agreed on the title track, Vesuvius and I Want To Be Well being the best on the album. It's the last 3 minutes or so of Age of Adz, where it climaxes and Sufjan sings "I've lost the will to fight" that I like the most, such a powerful moment both thematically and musically

Somehow haven't heard All Delighted People, think I'll change that today actually

I still don't think Age of Adz is even a good album. I think if you dropped the bookends it'd be a 2.5 but with them it's a hard 4 which speaks to how immensely great they are - "Impossible Soul" especially. For me it's an average album that is somehow salvaged by 2 songs.

Add Vesuvius to that and I agree, Sowing.

And Illinois is 50x better than Adz
