For real though other than Afterlife, Brompton Cocktail is the best song on this album m/

And Critical Acclaim, come on...
Maybe it's the nostalgia talking, but this is a great album.
...or at least half of it is.

I just listened to this. Gunslinger is meh. I don't like Unbound and Little Piece of Heaven. Dear God is kind of neat but not something I want to return to much. The rest of the album is hella good though. Their sound is super refined on the rest of the tracks and the hooks are huge. I was really enjoying the melodicism of Lost and how upbeat that is. Cocktail is badass. The best song on here after Afterlife yea. I remember being super tired of songs on this album but it was just because I had heard them too much.
Overall the tone of the album seems scattered when considering every track. Which is odd because all the great tracks are really cohesive and synergistic with each other.

As meh as this album is, playing Afterlife on the drums will never stop being fun. One day when I actually practice double bass I'll be able to do Almost Easy too

I was listening to LBC and man his vocals were absolutely insane. I’m sure they were pitch corrected in post and all that stuff but that version of Seize the Day is so much better than on the record, I feel similarly about Critical Acclaim… those post chorus shouts are so bad man. Might be the worst lyrics Matt ever penned.
Jimmy sounds phenomenal on both tho

Still my least favorite A7X, but I don't hate it as much as I used to. There are some pretty decent cuts here... Almost Easy, Afterlife, Lost (never had a problem with the autotune in the chorus tbh), and Brompton Cocktail are all songs I can return to and still enjoy
Little Piece of Heaven still fucking sucks though :]

I still really don’t like Lost but them other 3 absolutely fucking save this album. Gunslinger would be my “Lost” in this comparison I guess

Underrated album

Album Rating: 2.5
It might be overrated tbh, over half the songs either fully suck (Dear God, A Little Piece of Heaven, Unbound) or have some dogshit idea big enough to ruin the whole song (Lost, Critical Acclaim, Scream)

Yeah might finally drop this to a 2. Hail to the King might even be better… this just has far higher highs.

Yeah but that’s all it has going for it, Hail to the King is far more competently made. And if I want weird I’m gonna go with the one that jumped in with both feet and actually went all the way with it(LIBAD) and not the pussy half measure bullshit one (this)

I think Shepherd of Fire is the only reason I don't completely hate HTTK, that's just nostalgia for Call of Duty zombies lol
