interesting. the reason i ask is cause your ranking is pretty bizarre (as you know lol), and a lot of their stuff takes a long time to sink in. ghost reveries and watershed in particular i'd say deff give more listens before passing judgement, 2 of their best imo

@ Danny: Like what you said about there not being a wrong way to rank Death because the musical styles of each album is so different, same can be said for Opeth. For me 1. BWP, 2. GR, 3. MAYH, 4. SL but that's because I'm more of a prog rock/metal fan than prog/melodeath/black metal (though I love both) which is more the style of their first two

It's only been since last summer that I've been jamming albums properly, so yeah. And Opeth is only one of the many bands/artists I jam, so yeah.

I actually love the slightly muddy production this review complains about, it just feels more genuine than the next few albums (still love them of course).

I agree. I don't think Demon Of The Fall would have sound anywhere near as good if it had the same production as on Ghost Reveries

the dark/dirty production really works to create the proper tone/atmosphere that makes this album so great. Ghost Reveries sounds fantastic with clean production but it wasn't supposed to be as "dark" an album.

This is about ghosts and stuff. It needs to sound spooky.

I never pay that much attention to 'Peth's lyrics tbh. I just listen to the music.
