I'll remember that next time I unwittingly enter a Taylor Swift thread.

"A Black Mile to the Surface is a masterpiece."

I mean, this has nothing to do with Tool but fuck yeah, every mention of it is always appreciated.

Unpopular opinion seeking mutual distaste

7empest may well be my least favourite song on the album. It's not bad or anything, but it does precisely fuck all to justify being 15 minutes asides from Jones finally hitting his stride.

When the light of this album hits reality it casts profound shadows of meaning on the mind.

Honestly this is much better than 10k Days, but that's not saying much. For me, this is an easier listen from start to finish than most Tool albums (maybe Lateralus takes the cake here), especially due to the interludes being omitted on the CD version, which is the only one I listen to.

That said, no cat squeezing noises 1/5

"Lateralus t/t seems underrated to me, at least here. It’s absolutely my favorite Tool song, but people rarely mention it here."

Lateralus t/t is my second fave tool tune.

And as Stormchaser said this is definitely one of Tool's easier listens. The other albums (except for maybe Lateralus) have songs that I actively dislike, but this one ranges from love to indifferent.

Tool haters: The early stuff was better.

Also Tool haters: This sounds just like the early stuff.

Tool fans: This guitar solo is a conscious entity.

Tool fans: let me defend this pointlessly repetitive 9-minute-long chord progression because you don't get it. THIS IS ART!!!!!!!1111111111

There’s hundreds of pages worth of comments by people who like AND dislike this album. And among all of these, you are the only one who behaves as obnoxiously childish as the “terrible terrible Tool fans" are supposed to act. Go figure.
