Clearly I need to listen to this again because I remember the highlights deserving WAY more than a 3.5

"Clearly I need to listen to this again because I remember the highlights deserving WAY more than a 3.5"

I've always found that; the highlights are extraordinary, but the album as a whole feels a bit overwhelming imo

@barcafan: Yeah I'm not gonna lie, I could've sworn I had this rated a full point higher

@Johnny: I honestly never found this album overwhelming, maybe I just let the fact that the album takes so long to really get going drag down my rating too much or smth. This is possibly the most back-loaded album I've ever heard; an EP consisting of the last 8 tracks would be an easy 4.5 or maybe even a 5

If you swapped Baby We'll Be Fine, Friend Of Mine and Val Jester for Karen, Lit Up and Daughters of the Soho Riots, that EP would be pretty damn perfect.

"Lit Up" is a low point imo :/ "Karen" and "Daughters" are great, but I can't get behind either of them replacing any of "Baby We'll Be Fine," "Friend of Mine" or "Val Jester." Those three songs are just so beautiful and poignant.

"I'm so sorry for everything, I'm so sorry for everything"

"I've got two sets of headphones, I miss you like hell"

"You should've looked after her better, you should've looked after her more"

I'm definitely one of the only people who thinks "City Middle" is the song that drags this album down...

Baby We'll Be Fine has great lyrics, but those three songs are such drags

@BoneyKing: I used to agree with you, but that song grew on me massively with repeated listens. Now it's one of my favorites from this record

@Dylan: I've always wished it would grow on me because I would probably give this album a 5 if it did. Alas, in many years it never has, so I doubt it ever will, unless I have some strange epiphany. I don't think it's bad, but I always want to skip it and get to Mr. November already.

I still don't get what's supposedly so amazing about Mr. November.
