yeah, me too. Even though I was pretty pissed at first when I found out there was another version of White Pony with one more song than mine. After listening to it I was kinda relieved

Definitely. It's easily one of Deftones's worst songs and would definitely bring down the album for me if it were included.

that being said, I am relieved that they did not include it on any vinyl afaik, just the cd's and tapes (I think?). Not being able to skip it properly on vinyl would be a huge game breaker

The thing about that song is it's totally mocking popular music and the record labels at the time. Just listen to the lyrics, he's basically saying ''I'll always be a step ahead of you popular people'' and it's totally a fuck you song lol

Totally stoked for the new record by the way, Terry Date works with this band better than any other producers do. He especially makes Chino's vocals sound great. Last few records, the vocals were a bit too loud and not blended in well (imo) that will probably change with Terry Date producing.

Didn't that song end up being a single?

Chino said he wrote the song to show how easy it was to make a hit single

always thought the ''Back in school, we are the leaders'' part was mocking the immaturity of nu metal scene
kind of like Faith No More's song ''Kindergarten''

Most of the covers done by Deftones are way better than Back to School

Turn that frown upside down.
It’s definitely a bottom tier Deftones song, but bottom tier Deftones is still good.

the song was originally just the Pink Maggit song apparently. Which is one of the best songs on the album, very underrated, too as far as I can tell. It's super intense. One of their creepiest songs.
