I dunno what you mean with "refined" but the parts where it loses its chill and the dude starts yelling are definitely my least favorite parts, I'm guessing you mean those? my favorite parts are actually when it just gets super sombre and sounds like music that should be listened to in a near-pitch black room lit only by a small candle ("Don, Aman"), then it gets creepy and I really dig it

I also like how it's sad but in like a cold, distant way and less of a teary eyed way. It feels much more nuanced that way and kinda goes against it being "Unrefined", at least in terms of atmosphere. If it was really unrefined it'd be way more upfront about the emotions it tries to convey

Still think the instrumental groove section in the middle of Nosferatu Man is the highlight of this album

Nothing compares to this album's vibe and atmosphere when I'm in the mood for it. Really captures you. Absolutely riveting.

Yeah, haven't given that one a full listen but i hear ep is pretty much identical to this in terms of sound.

it's similar yeah, but also considerably more "mathy" and a bit denser texture-wise than this. both releases are fantastic

the ep was recorded in between this and tweeze, so you get this weird mix of the two. like there would be the noise freak outs that tweeze had mixed in with the dense texture of this

Leaving this as a 4.5 for now, but rating could seriously go up anytime tbh. This grew on me hard.
