do you have a more productive topic than discussing the stylistic departure this band underwent between albums?

Def should've changed their name, and this coming from a big peth fanboy. It just really is missing something. I'm all for them having fun and doing what they love, but the drastic change in quality alone is enough to warrant them releasing this new stuff under a different banner.

Mikael Akerfeldt and the Crimson Kings

The new track is far less 70's prog worship than PC, there's just no pleasing some people.

There is still that classic Opeth feel to the track and the riffs have more balls than anything in the last few years. If anything Opeth continually changing their sound is admirable, Mikael is a musical chameleon and it's hard to accept but the growls are never coming back.

It's pretty much a guarantee at this point.

honestly I only have Morningrise, Still Life, Blackwater Park, Damnation, and Ghost Reveries. the rest I didn't feel inclined to spend the money on, and have gotten sufficient doses of the times I've seen them live.
