I really like the redux too but I have some problems with it - the spoken vocals at the end of the title track are almost inaudible in the new mix for some inexplicable reason, and some of the tracks lost a bit of their atmosphere with the crisper mix (Last Light and title track come to mind). I also think the original artwork complements the atmosphere of the album better than the inverted version. But still, I probably listen to the redux more than the original!

I'm at a constant battle whether I like the Redux over this or not. Sometimes I prefer how suffocating this is and sometimes I prefer how clean and good Redux sounds

Agreed Full. I generally favour redux, but there is something visceral and raw about the original max (especially the t/t) that I love and always come back to

Exactly. When I first heard this I found it amazing how the production correlated with the hopeless/lonely feel of the music.

(especially the t/t) [2]
When I heard of the redux I was worried the atmosphere for In Her Shadow would be tainted, but they really nailed it.

The Redux does plenty of things right and plenty of things wrong. It's mostly just a matter of preference and opinion, really. My opinion being that the original is better.

In any case they are different enough from each other (and both do plenty of things right) so I'm happy to have two versions to choose from.

the riff to close out Drop Out is so fucking good

you could pick out literally any riff on this album at random and it's probably so fucking good : )

Considering I've got 6 Converge albums & this is dead last I could probably benefit from hearing the redux. I might revisit this yet again (maybe in a dark room) just to double-check first though.

JD > Axe > PTES > AWLWLB > NH > this
The middle ones vary from time to time but JD is ALWAYS no.1. I haven't heard WFCC or the debut yet.

Redux rules guys, much prefer it to this. I just think it's more suited to an aggressive sounding band, everything feels punchier.
No review for it yet which is surprising, think it could do with one because the 2 versions are different enough for opinions to vary. Edit: I wonder what the thinking was with the extra track (in the middle of the album), not that I dislike it or anything.

It was originally a vinyl and Japanese CD exclusive bonus track, guess they wanted it in for the Redux. I love it and prefer it in the track listing

I do enjoy it yeah, doesn't feel out of place, wonder if I'd miss it if went back to the original now, possibly. Redux has definitely enhanced the experience for me, it's like having a brand new Converge album.

Feels out of place for me. They don't have those style of vox anywhere else on the album. Killer song though.
I really dig the redux.
