"I don't feel the production is that bad"

That's a lie, I KNOW that you feel the production is that bad

A lot of 'nikkers are indeed afraid to face their true feelings.

Zak, you are like the posterboy for Sputnik Denial, with your attempts at masculinity.

Point taken. Let's talk about how the bass here is inaudible.

According to a friend of mine "the length of a song does not justify the awesomeness of it"

"I think the production adds to the album. I like the rawness the album has especially due to the subject matter. Granted the bass should be present, I don't feel the production is that bad. Elliott Smith had albums that were produced cheaply, but he is still considered one of the most important musicians of the modern age."

cheap production isn't the problem, Lars and James were. they were the ones pulling the strings in terms of turning the bass way down and having the drums sound dryer than a fucking saltine cracker left on a Californian sidewalk for 2 weeks
that said, aside from absent bass yada yada I do actually think it's a pretty cool-sounding record. Dry drums weren't exactly commonplace for big 80s rock records back in the day

This still makes no sense to me. Especially now that i've listened to Doomsday for the Deceiver x)

Not that this album makes sense anyway. It's really stuck between 2 styles: the earlier thrash from their 3 previous albums and the more commercial hard rock on the black album. That's why, even though i like the first albums more, i like the black album more than this. At least, it's more cohesive.

Yeah, the snare being above everything and the awesome bass riffs being unaudible doesn't really add to the authenticity for me, it just makes me think of how much better this album could have been since the songwriting is so good. Agreed with Log.

Eh, I like the agression on this album, also dig the more progressive thrash approach, also like the lyrics more than on Black album, etc.

But Black album doesn't have the same problems as this, so I can see someone liking that more.

Only complaining because it's still frustrating to listen to and it's such an easy fix
