Kinda wish the "heavy riff" was more than just a subdued dun dun dun dun, but it was dec. I'll probably actually listen to Sorceress so I guess I'm kinda hyped?

Yeah the main riff was catchy enough but the second half of the track is where stuff gets reaaalllll good.

Loving how it's still got the 70s vibe like Pale Communion and Heritage, but is MUCH more heavy. Good shit man.

that opening riff thing is like something off Daudi Baldrs played through a belt-mounted guitar amp

to be fair, the rest of the song was good. but it's...I kinda with the band had changed its name after Watershed because it's such a different feel.

i understand the complaint if only because i might enjoy their last two records more if the name 'opeth' didn't make me think specifically of the mayh/sl/bwp/gr sound; the mind is too eager to draw comparisons

I totally agree I was on about this in the other opeth thread, it doesn't sound remotely like their classic work not just in style but also in execution. A band like thrice, despite changing sounds multiple times still retains a recognizable feel at their core, which I believe is due to the retention of their core band members. With Opeth, it's now just Akerfeldt's side project. I wish they released it under a different name rather than tarnish the Opeth brand.
