"We've reached a point where both bands aren't as big and now we can calm down and view the bands through more objective lenses, and the result is that many people were blowing this stuff way out of proportions."
Pretty much. I was watching Lost in Vegas' reaction to Arms Wide Open, and one of the things they (and the comments section) mentioned was that a lot of the hate for the late 90s/early 00s post-grunge bands came more from overplay than anything else. Especially since that was during the TRL era, so these bands would be in near-constant rotation and people would get absolutely sick of them
Not saying bands like Creed or Nickelback are among my favorite artists, but they were definitely overhated back then. The first time I heard Silver Side Up back in 2015 or so, I was honestly a bit puzzled as to why people hated Nickelback so much. Seemed like a decent, if kinda unremarkable, post-grunge album to me

It was also the fact that the overplayed songs weren't entirely indicative of the bands overall sound, hearing With Arms Wide Open a billion times and writing them off on it would have you missing how dark and actually interesting Human Clay was at times. Not that it would be mind blowing to most people or anything, but it stuck with me as a kid and I still find them enjoyable.

I loved Bullets back when I was a teenager and only today browsing my old Spotify playlist I realized I never listened to a full album.
Yeah nah, one time was enough, got quite bored.
Bullets still rules though

Music video for that song will always make me laugh, the technology/graphics just screams turn of the century to me

Bullets is such an Alter Bridge song lol. Has nothing to do with anything else on the album or the first two. This album has no direction but a lot of the songs are good. Who's Got My Back is epic.
And on the other end Open Your Eyes is the most Creed song ever that is not sung by Scott Stapp.

First half is fine I think. The second half though....not so much. Love the title track.

The instrumentation on this album has no right to be as solid as it is.

I like Creed way better than many other post-grunge bands tbh
