Tommy failed?

Steerpike, you don't have to tell me what emo is, but when you combine it with pop punk, most people think of this and TBS and Dashboard Confessional and things like that. While from real emo, I've only heard CTTS, but I get that MCR's not emo.
It was more just general venting. I still here the term bandied about way too much.

Aww man, you put my name as Wish?
| | | Haha.
I'm excited for the new single as I like Black Parade a bit. I like the chorus.

I discovered MCR thru my daughter. Yes, I'm one of those - gasp! adults!
I didn't really care much for the first album, but Sweet Revenge got me hooked. I heard the Queen influence then, so I don't know why everybody is flaming them now, after the release of Black Parade.
The singer isn't the best in the world, but the melodies, harmonies, all the different moves in the songs, and good guitar work, are what I like about this band.
They have gotten better with every album. Hope they'll keep it up.

On a personal level, I think Tommy is a terrible concept (let alone album).
Hear hear.

That about sums me up.

Are you tonedeaf??!!! They might borrow from other bands, but they have a style of their own and "The black parade" is one of the best albums I heard in years.
But comments like "they were't that bad on SNL" and "I have to admit, Im sort of attracted to the single..." made me beleive that like "radianteclipse" wrote, that it is cool to hate the band. People are afraid to admit they like it.
So swollow your pride and admit that this is a great band you hypocrites! Or maybe you are tonedeaf....

Or maybe some people just don't like their style. Personally, I'm just not a fan. That's all there is to it. The Black Parade is a big musical step forward for them, but I'm not gonna rush out and buy it because I'd rather save up for another Ensiferum album.
| | | Net, you're not helping anyone, especially the band. They could simply just not like the band. It's that simple.

Well, "trustxdialect", first of all, I don't think the band needs any help, they seem to get along just fine.
But, yes, of course your're right, peoples taste are different and I might have overreacted a bit ;).
But nevertheless, based on the comments I mentioned, I think some people are afraid to admitt that they like the band. I guess that's what you get when you identify yourself with a certain group. About the Queen likeness, there might be parts that resemble Queen, but they, as long as I heard, don't have the "harmony song" (or what's it called), where the band sing together.
If you like something not aproved by your peers, then it's hard to admit. Nothing to say about that really, altough it's kinda sad.
Even the hardcore fans of MCR complained that they had "sold out" because they are attracting other people.
You want to feel special, and I suppose you do that when you belong to a small "elite"-group.
And also may I add, while I'm here. The discussion of what is "emo" and not: Can you really pinpoint exactly where a band belongs and does it matter?

Cancer is nearly exactly like Jet's "Look What You've Done", which is nearly exactly like Hey Jude. Go MCR.

Yes and yes.

This is the same website that gives Spice Girls a 4.5 and hails Regina Spektor. We're not afraid to admit to liking any band. This is your optimism getting in the way of logic. These people very much don't like MCR.

See above statement.

Go look at any Panic! at the Disco or Fall Out Boy forum. Yes, you can pinpoint where a band belongs and yes, it does matter, we've just become numb to the argument and have stopped caring. This Message Edited On 03.16.07

Refering to to comments like "they were't that bad on SNL" and "I have to admit, Im sort of attracted to the single..." I think you are in some cases wrong.
And you mean that some people who for instance consider themselfes heavy metal aren't afraid to admitt they like country...yeah, right... And sure, some aren't afraid to admit they like Spice Girls, but would a heavy metal guy dare to give Spice Girls a 5 if he thought so...I don't think many would...

Sure there is a difference between hardrock and country but but when you come to the small differenses like hardrock and heavy metall and so on...I mean, people can argue for ever about where a band belong, but why oh why does it matter??!!!
Why??? Please explain. I still suspect that it is some kind of "we and them" thinking, like in high school were you have the rockers, the jocks, etc. Prove me wrong! This Message Edited On 03.21.07

If you think for even a nanosecond that you can speak for me and what I can and cannot listen to or admit to listening to, you can kiss the least sexy part of my ass.
Granted, I don't even like the Spice Girls, but I'm even less fond of profoundly subnormal apes like yourself thinking you can speak for me.

It's a cataloging system. Drr-hey!
The significance of genres is directly proportionate to how much you care. To me, there is not only a distinction between hard rock and metal, there is a very important distinction between 2nd wave black metal and Viking metal. You probably couldn't tell the difference to save your life, but I can, and thus I need a more detailed and indepth cataloging system for the sake of convenience.
I still suspect that it is some kind of "we and them" thinking, like in high school were you have the rockers, the jocks, etc.
You suspect? Next on CSI: Dumbass...
I sure many are at this forum because they just don't like MCR, but why be here then at all?
Because people are allowed to disagree and some of us are capable of intelligent discussion and debate? I know it sounds like crazy talk, but just go with me on this one.
