I can't get over how well put-together this is. I listened to their whole back catalogue since this came out and it just goes to show how a little restraint goes a long way lmao.
There were several points during Eonian and Abrahadabra where the choirs are going "satan satan I love satan" or whatever and it caused me physical pain. I needed actual willpower to continue listening. By contrast, this one makes me want to listen again and again because of the clever ways the songs are structured.

Ulvgjeld & Blodsodel would have been corny as hell if it was on the last two albums, but here it sounds righteous af.
edit: ok while I'm still yapping, I kinda feel like Galder (as great a guitarist as he is) kinda became a third wheel. Something about the duo of Shagrath and Silenoz being left to their own devices has awakened something in them, I think. That, and Gerlioz's contributions here are every bit as great as Mustis' on Death Cult Armageddon. I don't care, I'm 5ing this.

At first I was a bit underwhelmed because nothing unexpected really grabbed my attention at first. Cool, Dimmu's out of their Snoregir era. But the more I thought about it, it's like Dimmu Borgir's biggest fans wrote their ultimate Dimmu album and those biggest fans turn out to be Shagrath and Silenoz.
