“Best SUMAC by a mile, and it was produced by the same dude who produced this one.”

Oh nice. Yeah, the prod job on that album was incredible. Makes sense.

this is a good excuse to listen to A LOT of Neurosis, again! Then Isis. (Then CoL, just so they don’t feel left out, lol)

Seems like a good time to go back to neurosis’s back catalogue and see if they’ll click for me now.

This album really does fly by when it’s playing. ‘First Red Rays’ I actually had to play twice in a row cuz it went by so fast I felt like I didn’t appreciate it enough lol

"Gyro, do you dig???"

This album is really fun. I tried their debut last night and had a hard time getting into it. Trying that for a third time rn but most of it is in one ear out the other lol

Post metal is one of the harder subgenres for me to get into because I feel like the sound kind of bleeds together a lot of the time.

Agreed, Pain of Mind is just a Hardcore album by the numbers. They didn't truly develop their potential until Souls At Zero.

To be clear I’ve jammed a lot of Isis in recent times but no reason not to do so again. The big 3 of atmo sludge / post are unparalleled in all of metal imo & I just think revisiting their old stuff in the light of this historic moment, seems like a damn fun time so why not?
