His vocals are so shit. Not just on this album.... But period lol. Sounds like a damn dehydrated old lady

Mustaine's vocals were the bratty and very American antidote to the quasi operatic (mostly) European metal vocalists.
In that context they're awesome tbh, though they weakened over time but that goes for most singers anyway (some voices suit aging sure)

give me something iconic and unique but rough around the edges over something cookie cutter but technically well done every time

People always said Metallica were popular because 'they were the fans'....but there's something elitist and distant about 'Tallica, esp after '91.
Mustaine was 'the fans' and remained that way, maybe I'm wrong but seemed like that to me. Don't think he fell out of love with music/metal at all - think he understood his fans, respected their loyalty.

I mean all that is great but Metallica's still the stronger songwriters and dave's vocals are still ass lol

As he ages, I hope he realizes how iconic he really is and that he never needed Metallica to begin with. We all know he's not at peace with not being in that band, but he stood tall on his own right.

songwriting isn't far off. dave is one of the best riff writers of all time.

'but Metallica's still the stronger songwriters'
Overall yes, they are the bigger band for me, 'Master of Puppets' is the greatest album either released (and then it's a toss up between Ride the lightning and Rust in Peace) but from 'Load' on can't say I had a super fondness for them as a band (yes I caught them live a few times after the '90s and they were good, not complaining there).
I just kept more fondness for Mustaine/Megadeth, maybe the underdog thing, maybe just Dave's personality (that obviously comes through in his songs, even now)

From 1990 onward (Rust in Peace / Black album), Megadeth is easily the better band in my opinion and it's not even close. We're talking 35 years now. Go ahead fellas, compare the releases.

Id agree. Megadeth is a great band even if their not my favorite I can admit that. To me Metallica was far better at their peak tho. Consistency is great but end of the day I just never liked Megadave as much as Metallica tbh. Kill em all through black album especially ride master and justice is still about as good as it gets imo and that beats out megadeth imo. Rust in peace is a phenomenal album tho

'Go ahead fellas, compare the releases.'
I'll go for nearest equivalence...
Black album vs Countdown = winner Metallica
Load vs Youthanasia = winner Megadeth
Reload vs Cryptic Writings = winner Megadeth
St. Anger vs The System Has Failed = winner Megadeth
Death Magnetic vs Endgame = winner Metallica (just...and despite the 'loud' production)
Hardwired vs Dystopia = winner Megadeth (just...and mostly for consistency of sound/theme)
72 Seasons vs Megadeth = winner Metallica (just...I'm a bit of a 72 Seasons apologist)
Megadeth have a tonne more albums between those releases so yeah, they definitely win overall.

not bad doof - i'd like to add that most of the Megadeth wins are by a landslide and the Metallica W's are by a hair

It's a pretty common opinion budgie. But keep crying lol
Megadeth fanboys can get upset all they want. Metallica are the top dogs for a reason 🤷🤷🤷 megadeth's a good band tho no hate.
Dave literally cried for like 40 years about getting kicked out of Metallica LOL that alone gives Metallica the win.

I would probably be crying too if i got kicked out of Metallica. The two hired guns are estimated to be worth 40 million and 200 million with zero ownership in the business.

Metallica’s first 5 are untouchable imo. And rewrote metal.
But Megadeth incredible in their own right. No-one else wrote songs like Wake up dead and Hangar 18
