I didnt pay much attention to media buzz around this album before listening to it so maybe that’s why my experience was a little less marred than others but this album has definitely grown on me more than I thought it would.

As far as “indie” music goes it sits right at the origin between charming/unique and hipstery/obnoxious which to me gives it an almost Merriweather Post Pavilion-esque endearment. Is it worth all the hype? Probably not. Is it a unique and enjoyable listen? Well I’ve been playing it pretty regularly since it came out so I would say yes.

To each their own but I just don't get it. You guys really hears Cameron's vocal and think yeah this guy can sing? Didn't listen to 3D Country but if it's any indication, this one doesn't make me want to..

After that article came out talking about them being an industry plant or whatever, I finally listened to them. The only way I can describe it is like if a group of young teens made their first song, and one of them calls their mom in to hear it and while playing she's thinking "oof" but she doesn't want to dash their dreams so she just says "good job, guys"

I was pleasantly surprised by this simply not just trying to copy the stereotypical sound of modern indie bands. They definitely paying tribute to the old 70's blues-rooted rock with country sensibilities. Though there's also strong modern indie clichees on how they pull off some of these vocals and psychedelic twangles which make for the post-punk references. Other places feel super 90's to me in it's simplicity and oh's and whoa's. It's super un-melodic and stoic besides the vocals, so if you're dancing on a different boat then this one is gonna be pain.

Cobra, Taxes and Au Pays du Cocaine are the main reasons I come back to this here and again. Getting Killed is good overall, but I never understood the massive acclaim it got from critics and the like, especially when it came to the best albums of last year, I just don't see it. 3D Country is miles ahead better, in my opinion, not even close.

i mean it's alright... everything that has some sort of post-punk influence becomes annoying and whiny by default, in my ears.
