One of the many bands vying for that distinction, I've been told. But I haven't listened to a lot of their material so I can't weigh in on this myself.

In the book, the main kids all loved semi-typical dad rock stuff, but when they formed a band, none of them knew how to play instruments. They discovered bands like black flag and fell in love with their sound.

I've never listened to any of their albums fully actually, I heard one song from Who's Next and thought was meh so haven't bothered

From what I'm given to understand that's how a lotta bands at the time started cuz the supposed message of the punk movement was doing what you wanted so kids just went on to make music even though they knew shit of how to make it, so I'm guessing they needed to look at some other prominent punk bands at the time to know how to get around

could be wrong though dunno
