i think it's funny that Sput's still factored in on AOTY as a credible critic site after seeing some of these threads sometimes. like, remember when metacritic banned Sput after that trebor amo rev? amazed there wasn't a reprise of that.

I'm not a staff reviewer, user revs don't show up in the critics section the way, say, your reviews would. so staff reviews should prob be held to a higher standard than us mere users since they are our representation, this one is fine but I mean like other staff reviews in the past have made this site look bad

I misspoke, I'm not good at wording things sometimes lol as for the reviews thing I feel like staff reviews that read as particularly antagonistic towards the listeners that may disagree do not represent the site well and might as well be avoided if possible. Like if the staff doesn't care about the site's perception then take this with the thinnest grain of salt imaginable but when there are things like "objective" and "facts" thrown around for a subjective form of entertainment... you kinda start sounding like you believe you know better than everyone who you disagree with.

I would never say in earnest that I know more than you... but I dont think it needs to matter all that much, music is meant to be enjoyed. Subjectivity gets lost when you start thinking of music as an objective checklist of boxes that needs to be filled for something to be good. Sometimes things just feel good.

this is the part where you pull up a single staff review that uses either of those words in the context you just ascribed

it reads as to be implied that the review is in service of that addendum that it's not subjective anymore but is instead an "objective fact" that you are wrong and bad for disagreeing with and your taste is to be called into question
