I actually think he should have spent the time composing instead of worrying so much about the production and the number of Jari solos. Great songwriting will outshine mid production.

If the first album is any indication, jari is much better when not thinking about things too much

^ hell yeah
We also need legislation in place that prevents jari from having access to synth libraries on his DAW

And just hire a legit keyboardist to do the synths bodom style

if the material here were better i'd forgive the production but it's honestly pretty lacking - comparing the songwriting chops in any song from the s/t to this is no contest. if time 1 and 2 were put together and the songs were condensed and refined it'd match the s/t. the songs on the s/t were 100% greater than the sum of their parts and 'time' is the absolute opposite. so much bombastic noise about practically nothing.

Yeah A - B tasting stuff from the s/t and then listening to this stuff shows such a wild difference. The debut just sounds like such awesome energetic folky-goodness, but it still feels down to earth, whereas everything else is trying so hard to be grandiose it hardly feels real.

Jari should just let his riffs do the talking. I enjoyed Time 1 but it was undeniably a muddled mess, some fantastic ideas and riffs submerged in clutter. This ablum is far less intresting but again would of benefited from being more stripped down. There are really good riffs here, Jari never disappoints on that front.

yep, totally agree with that. so many of these songs could have been cut in half and they'd have only benefitted. that and as you said, letting the riffs do the talking. his orchestral compositions are just deeply uninteresting and don't add to the experience at all most of the time.

shoulda just let devin townsend mix it the first time fifteen years ago

I find it encouraging that Jari has decided not to go on tour for Time 2 and will be focusing on producing new music. Now that the Time saga is over it's only going to benefit the band. Hopefully Jari can find some redemption a long the way because this arduous and floundering chapter has really hurt the band.

I kinda fuckin love it

looking forward to the next kickstarter where he says he needs a whole yacht to go on a soul searching cruise to get inspiration for the next albums we won’t see until 2045

Didn't realize it was out. As soon as you hear that intro (yawn), you kind of know what you're getting into. A lot of good throwback stuff from a band I haven't thought of in many years, and then a lot of dull meandering. What a relic.
