Band is cooked I’m afraid

That’s a little extreme, but agreed it’s pretty uninspired.

It would need something special for them to release something that's above "just okay" again tbh

"Just Okay" is honestly insanely impressive for a melodeath band who has been around this long.

As long as they have a song or two that is better than average (and none that are abysmal), I'm just glad to still have them kicking and sticking around

The realist in me can respect that outlook and understand the band has bills to pay like anyone else. The purist in me says stop fucking up your legacy and just hang it up.

I just try to envision myself how it must be to be a band for +30 years. I know they have new members but still, it's probably much easier said than done to release something special after such a long time.

I don't think DT is ruining their legacy at all.

Their run of great albums is practically unmatched in the genre and they still put out decent material. Their new stuff isn't offensively bad enough to make me reappraise them.

In Flames is a different case where they were actually diluting their legacy, but they've managed to rebound somewhat.

Don't get me wrong, I would love for DT to turn it on and give us something truly great again, but I can also appreciate a legacy act being consistent and doubly so in a genre as constricting as this.

At the very least I still have to commend them for still releasing good albums after their early era unlike their contemporaries, but needless to say yeah, I've not been impressed with their recent albums in the slightest.

Yeah if there's any band in the melodeath scene that has ruined their legacy it's IF 100%, not DT

My mom asked me if I’d done the dishes like she’d asked.

I said “Dark Tranquillity - Endtime Signals”.

She smiled. She knew they were washed.

Moment was pretty ok for modern era DT but this new one is woof! New Halo Effect is decent though at least.

Yeah, really enjoyed Moment. Atoma was good too. Think Halo Effect beats both though

I really like Construct, feel like it’s the best thing of their modern era easily, lots of variety and memorable songs. Atoma does have some songs that I like but also several that I find pretty drab. Moment and this one I hardly remember anything note of

I'd go: Moment, Atoma, Construct, WATV, Endtime Signals. Nothing gets even close to DD and Character though!

Shout outs to Brutal Legend for featuring Cathode Ray Sunshine to which I heard before ever knowing about the band.
