Am I the only one bothered by how much this sounds like ETID? Not that this isn't good, but goddamn I would be hard pressed to name another instance of a band sounding EXACTLY like another band as drastic as the first track on this thing. It *is* ETID.

well they’re gone now so no… but tbh I don’t think they really sound *that* much like ETID
they’re killer live btw, they just finished their set

i did not think about ETID once jamming this
i get it more for Empty Black but even then they don't sound exactly like ETID and have now pretty much carved out their own sound

I think "Past Material" just sounds a hell of a lot like "Fear and Trembling".

Band has some similarities but they don't sound "exactly like" ETID in any capacity outside of the occasional southern-fried riffs

This band sounds closer to The Bled than ETID imo

this band is sick and i wouldn't say they are a "rip off" but they definitely suffer from not having a fully formed identity of their own. Empty Black is a great listen but like half the album is ETID/Norma Jean with a lesser He Is Legend influence and the other half is He Is Legend with a lesser ETID/Norma jean influence.
it was a lot of fun on the first dozen listens but i rarely feel like returning to it because it just doesn't feel like it brings much new to the table. i haven't heard the new one but i did think TBaBW was moving towards something more original, and while the songs weren't as memorable i think it was the better record. i am excited to jam this because these guys have huge potential and the musicianship is stellar.

maybe you can level this at the band after you listen to one album the first time, but at this point they sound like Greyhaven. Sure, inspired by other bands --like most bands -- but I am not going to mistake their riffs and vocals for someone else.

Yeah it beats absolute ass.
I can see ETID some with the riffing but vocally his singing is wayyyy more robust and dynamic than Keith ever was.
But yeah like everyone else said you can hear lots of their influences but they’re definitely their own sound at this point.

There is just no way that the same Will Putney produced and mixed both this and the Northlane EP. This one isn't perfect, but up there. While the Northlane EP is utter garbage (just talking production / mixing). I don't get it.

well that’s a much worse band, maybe Will half asses it when the talent isn’t there

These bands definitely have a huge say in how these projects are produced so ofc you're gonna get radically different qualities in mixes
