So much great music wasted...

The production is carrying this towards "further opportunities territory", even if I remain unconvinced of their song-writing prowess thus far.

Kinda reminding me of a less extravagant and sadder Liturgy

I don't know WHICH Liturgy you mean but I don't hear it. A much lighter BM influence here. No totalism. No choral touches etc.
Is it the vox?

Liturgy is awesome.

I mostly mean the vox ye.

I also hear a lot of Liturgy in some of the super fast melodic blasts. Y’all need to get those ratings up though smh

Reminded me of Birds in Row's latest record, which is a massive compliment.

I can see the BiR comparison ye.
If anything, this feels more generic? Idk, I’m struggling to think that this will stand the test of time, in terms of a “Frail Body” sound. Feels very pick-a-mix, build a bear, sum of many parts and not a unique thing. I am the sour grape though I won’t rain on the hype train too much.

Yeah, I’m not hearing where it’s a classic skramz release to contend with the very best of the genre but it’s an engaging and emotional listen without a doubt.

Album Rating: 4.5
Yeah just kinda sounds like skramz vocals to me.

I was searching for answers and that was my only logical conclusion for what Asleep may have meant.
And yeah, there's no way this is classic skramz-level, but I will go again regardless

black metal fans getting filtered for Liturgy being 'unlistenable' will never not be amusing to me
forget frail body, more like frail mind

That’s kinda why I brought up the liturgy comparison, as I’ve seen names in this thread that love this, but hate liturgy, who I vaguely recall cited one of their reasons for not liking liturgy as the vox. Not a criticism, just interesting : people will put up with different things in different genres

the vocals are the least offensive aspect in liturgy's music
it's their whole moronic transcendental shtick exacerbated by some of the worst guitarwork in the genre
it's basically what if the guys at deafheaven were door-to-door essential oil dealers

You have me rejamming Aesthetica to remind me if there was a reason why I hated Liturgy
The vox were only one of many reasons
Most criminal thing might actually be the drum tone ngl

"it's basically what if the guys at deafheaven were door-to-door essential oil dealers"
ahh, so you're saying Liturgy aren't "trve BM" therefore bad - i.e. the most ridiculous possible reason for hating on anything... because there's 0% chance you're actually comparing Liturgy to Deafheaven in any musical sense
"it's their whole moronic transcendental shtick"
but other BM is fine in this regard? lmao
