“ honestly some of the riffier sections of early PTV and the buildups into choruses arent totally different to this. The first couple Pierce the Veil records had at least a bit of swancore appeal. Hail the Sun is still WAY better as a whole tho”
I dig both a lot. Not too big on PtV’s newest direction, though

PtV's first record is an all-time favorite of mine but I don't like anything after it too much. Vic's vocals kill it for me in addition to the lyrics. He puts that weird baby voice inflection on so many lines that it's hard to listen to.

Great driving album too. Have been traveling a ton lately and this has been the soundtrack, although I am entirely unable to sing along in Donovan's register lol

this album and last year's royal coda album are the only two swancore albums i've ever heard, and i really like them, but i get the feeling its kinda all i need from this style

Icarus and A Lot Like Birds are worthwhile, the rest you can take or leave at your discretion.

a lot like birds - no place is the best album to have ever come from the swancore ecosystem by a mile and is essential jamming in general
other albums from this band are worth jamming (wake/new age filth both rule, and the secret wars ep is better than this) but id leave that world alone and in the past otherwise

lotta friends into this whole style but I've always been colder on it. a lot of this won me over though - that run from tracks 4-8 is unreal and "Little Song" goes sooooo hard. a few clunkers too but I'll probably revisit this quite a bit which is more than I can say for most of the subgenre

Yeah there are definitely some highlights that stand out beyond others, "Little Song" usually is played twice at least on a full play through lol

since the Jackpot Juicer thread seems to be about my least favourite sport, has anyone heard the new DGD single? Pretty dope imo

fair enough. lmao I mean I thought it was one of the best things they've done in years, was actually creative after just pumping out their formula for like 2-3 albums

yeah, i can acknowledge that it actually felt different for them but no, that was not enjoyable in the slightest. and balancing the tim homage with the "we blow out shows and you can try and stop me" fucking ruins the sentiment.
it made me want to listen to a good ballad theyve done and now im listening to pussy vultures and this shit is still fantastic

lets not turn this into a new dgd thread lol

onion, you saying that reminded me of when spongebob said "let's be smart and bring it off" to an enraged crustacean and an impudent fish.
they didn't listen to him. but they should've.
divine inner tension is so far an easy runner up aoty for me but might just end up as my favorite due to a bunch of personal shit i'm going through now/have been going through for the past almost half a year. feels like the first thing i've really connected to in that time and trust me...i needed something like that.
