"@Jay guilty, but I’m not a purist and still think this is a fun time. Back half in particular has a lot of firepower. With time I could see bumping this to a 3.5. Championing it as a classic is wild tho, straight up"
I'm sorry but this is already a modern day classic as this feels like it's holding the torch that ETID left off with. There's very few modern metalcore groups really pushing the mold or putting out something this excellent especially with this much experimentation attached to it.

the more i jam this the less i buy into the immense immense hype honestly. this is great but its nothing i havent heard before

Not necessarily everything that is considered classic has to be something that isn't heard before, least in my opinion. Yeah, this might not EXACTLY break new mold but for me the reason I can say it's classic in modern metalcore is stands way above many others in the genre currently.

fair enough but like i keep seeing ppl claim theres some experimentation here and there really isnt muuuuuch even in the grand scheme of their peers, which is why i brought it up bc you said so yourself haha. its fun but for me it doesnt really stand out from the pack. it is all subjective tho anyway glad the homies are all vibing.
i think for me its that pretty much all their stabs at melody feel really basic to me and kinda drag this down every time they show up, and then all the heaviest moments are pretty similarly executed so both pendulum swings of dynamics are j not super impressive to me but the heavier jams for sure fare better. why becomes now is so faceless that whenever it comes on i legit forget who im even listening to

id prob be singing more of its praises if it wasnt just unanimously how everyone else was talking about it lol i dont have anything new to contribute there. i am certainly having lots of fun with it and even jamming it now, but i am having fun with it without it being near the vicinity of a 4.5-5 imo which is ok too
i will say tho this becomes an easy 4 without why becomes how, bright future, and gatekeepers chorus

i just go off vibe and this just scratches a certain feeling

I love gatekeepers but I do admit the chorus, least the first part of it is a little eh. Bright Future is awful though imo. That chorus ruins the entire track for me! I can't even make it through the track. Only one I skip by

But you 5’d invent animate dog. Great album but I don’t think anything else could be any more by the numbers. Certainly not this
