Funny how times change. In 2009 I remember thinking crooked vultures was the most boring Homme project to date; now I vibe it much more

That vultures album is a classic. At least it had riffzzzz

This does feel weirdly derivative of TCV yeah lol

RIP to the second TCV album that they apparently started on but which never eventuated

Come to think of it I really don’t even know why TCV wasn’t just released as a qotsa album, given qotsa’s lineup changed from album to album back then anyway

Homme's vocals are kinda fucking great here actually... maybe the best they've been. Super varied and confident
Regardless, yeah, if it weren't for "Time & Place" "Sicily" or "Straight Jacket Fitting" this might've not made a 4

If this is a 4 that really doesn’t leave a lot of rating room for their entire discog to be shades of better.
And zero room at all for the best Kyuss releases to be rated above that.

yeah they'd be a 4.5 wow easy

Homme's vocals almost make up for how disappointing the guitarwork here is gaddam

certified doof moment

50 shades of better

Quickly neek we have to run this album through a series of tests to determine exactly what percentage of the rock albums we've heard are better than it and rate accordingly, the fate of all sputnik hangs in the balance

Can we as a site give up on numerical ratings already I’m sick of having my 5s used against me
|
| |
I guess we do have RYM for that but cmon I like my little red numbers lol

I enjoyed this a lot more than Villains and I get the EV comparisons as Homme sounds like he’s swaggering all the way through
Only reason this isn’t as good as EV is there’s no top tier QOTSA just lots of solid 6-8/10 tracks

Agreed that every song is good but none are amazing. I could listen to this any time and enjoy it but not sure how much I'll remember this release unless I really make an effort to immerse myself in it.
