I really only got sick of the bands that gave off "oh i'm such a tough guy" vibes. I had a *cringes* Five Finger Death Punch phase but I got so sick of Ivan posturing like he was Such A Masculine Bro and eventually I got sick of the godawful production from Kevin Churko and even the ballads (which was all I'd defend) started losing me.
Some of the stuff I loved in HS I still love just as much today if not even more. All that's changed is I've more fully realized WHAT I want in music. So I feel like I've been able to better filter out the toughguy pastiches that Pantera unfortunately popularized in mainstream metal.

Wow, haven't been on Sputnik for a long time and used to really love it for the well written and balanced reviews.
This though, what a bile spewing piece of writing.
There is so much in that review that just screams that you have a personal hatred for this band, regardless of whatever they do musically.
A score of 0.5 is honestly a farce for this album and pretty much undermines what made this platform great.

tha band isnt gonna give you sloppy for defending them against an unpaid review on an irrelevant music site bud

Also Johnny articulates most of his points in a cohesive way. Ive not heard this yet am not sure if i will but the review is well written. It may be bias but every review has traces of bias. Also to counter your point of balanced this record has two other positive reveiws written for it here so Johnny is balancing that. Next point this could easily have been a meme shit post review rather than actually focusing on the end product.
People here like to shit stir a lot and some like to REALLY stir the pot.As Sin said its an irrelevant niche website for the most part but that doesnt take away the fact that some people here can actually write some bloody great reviews and pieces of writing.

Nah but for real this review genuinely reads like a hitpiece. Like it reads like it's coming from the same perspective as Snide's review of that "greatest hits" album Warner slopped together to try to confuse fans of Avenged Sevenfold when they dropped The Stage in 2016. Except instead of protesting a genuine injustice, it's railing after a band who...makes music the writer dislikes.

There have been more memorable and worse hit pieces tbh though. If this was the only review this had on the site id understand some of the major complaints about it. This review is kind of Johnny just pot stirring a bit to a degree. Either way everyone will form their opinions themselves, we have two positive reviews so far and one targeted negative one.

Form your opinions at the end of the day if you think a review is bias or too negatively geared look at another or listen yourself. Which is something Im going to do with how much bullshit this band has going on here and the hype behind it. Even though Mars, Gnocchi, Pika all have low ratings and my taste usually aligns with one out of the three of them in some way

Might be irrelevant and niche, but whenever I've wanted to find a new metal album/band to listen to, I've come here and checked out the charts and often found something epic based on the community ratings.
Discovered Belakor's Vessels album here and jizzed in my pants for months afterwards.
Don't visit as often as I used to but always glad to see it's still going.

This band's charm has completely worn off for me now, I've been listening to them since their first EP and I've grown so tired of their sound. There's some good stuff but not enough for me to want to go back to this album much.
Funny how polarising the reactions are though. It's so mid.

the review is a valid stance to take, it's just every time this happens Johnny will feature his own review, completely ignoring the great work done by Matteo in this case, Johnny abuses his power as a staff member a lot and it's very unprofessional

So disappointing! First half of the album is great. Second half is uninspired and boring.

On that note, the other atmo-djent release that's come out recently that everyone should check out is Karmanjakah's latest EP Ancient Skills. Been listening to it this morning and it's a really great little release.
