Jesus dudes, reading through this thread since my morning posts was an experience.

Gave it few more listens and for now 4.5 seems fair. Enjoying Unconformities more with each loop but still Atlantic + Parabiosis are pinnacles of the album for me

"No way. Nothing comes close to Jurassic / Pleistocene on this. Shirley not."

yeah I was being really generous there, it's really not on the same level, like you say Jurassic / Pleistocene decimates

It'll be hard for them to ever top that back half of Pleistocene and how absolutely crushing it is for sure, but there's a lot here that I enjoy just as much as Jurassic or a lot of the rest of their discography albeit for very different reasons.

Yeah, different approaches, different appeals. Enjoying both pretty well.

Not feeling this so far, although I agree with the comments stating that the album is back heavy.

Atlantic and Subboreal are nice surprises. Whether they are enough to get this album to rank higher than any of their other albums for me (maybe excepting Heliocentric) is still an open question. Still digesting.

Yeah Jurassic / Pleistocene >>> although I love the guest vocals on Unconformities.

“It'll be hard for them to ever top that back half of Pleistocene and how absolutely crushing it is for sure“

Not sure, considering it‘s their first ever foray into black metal (as far as I know) and they went in another direction with this one. Maybe they turn back to it one day to properly cover the ice age in album length or something.

This album rules. 3rd just below Precambrian and Pelagial for me.

I really like the album as a cap-off to the last two in particular, and I think whatever people think of the album one way or the other it makes a really interesting pivoting point for whatever direction they might go from here.

Just happy this band exists and keeps making music.

An ice age Ocean album would go hard, good idea

I just want Pelagial Part 2 where they go ALL IN on the ocean theatrics again

All your dreams will be crushed when RS Boots everyone from the band and goes full EDM project still using the name The Ocean.

If Loic stays, I'll give it a shot.

Album must be about bears as well.

Loic will be replaced by an actual bear.

Another one that'll probably take a while to grow on me. Seems to be a common theme today. A week late but we'll see if the new Iress breaks that streak.

Start of the record was surprisingly 'boring'

The album seems to me like a long long intro/interlude. It has a couple good tracks but... No.

PD still better than Leprous new musical path.

I expect this to be a grower but it's starting low. New Leprous mostly just...annoys me.
