'they've genre bended more than any other mainstream rock/metal band I can think of but sure they all sound the same'
also if you genuinely believe this then im afraid you havent heard anywhere near enough music or youre just impossibly dim

If you've only heard the first two albums of course you're not going to believe it. I specifically meant mainstream, of course lesser known artists might have done more. But LP was the one to just go berserk with the genre bending throughout their whole career and still be a huge household name.

gonna say that making three distinctly different godawful songs in a row sounds three times worse than making one godawful song three times in a row
"Sotelo's synthpop project Nik Mystery"
hmm does this project have threads and does it need them...

“ dynamics are extremely important”
Sometimes. Personally, there are times when i don’t want or need greater dynamic range across a particular song or album

ive heard bits and bobs of their later albums, they really do not experiment much at all. genre bending is really really generous for what linkin park did lol.
also in terms of popular groups that have experimented, and i cant believe im bringing them up, but the Beatles do exist

"gonna say that making three distinctly different godawful songs in a row sounds three times worse than making one godawful song three times in a row"
I disagree because the former at least shows they're trying to go outside their comfort zone and didn't just take the Larry Tesler approach to songwriting.

also damn venin, looking through your ratings (5s mainly) i cant see anything not in the rock/metal sphere. so sorry if i doubt your ability to gauge what is actual diversity

"Sometimes. Personally, there are times when i don’t want or need greater dynamic range across a particular song or album" more power to you, for me I can't just sit here and focus intently on a 60+ minute album that's written explicitly to be the most crushing heavy thing in existence because it's exhausting to not have breaks in the action. It's like if you're driving on the freeway and not giving a shit about the red lights, as opposed to driving like a normal person that's got an eye out for pedestrians/other cars.
"also in terms of popular groups that have experimented, and i cant believe im bringing them up, but the Beatles do exist" The Beatles' experiments basically all have to do with song structure and less overall sonic palettes because they never got heavier or lighter, they just sounded like the 60s' version of One Direction for much of their run.

yeah, genre bending is not entirely inaccurate, but definitely a hysterically generous way to characterise linkin park's entire oeuvre. jam u2 and coldplay for real genre bending mainstreams
it is also hilarious to see you betray your beloved BMTH like this. the bulk of their experimentation is fucking atrocious, but they've at least transgressed more boundaries than LP
um also the Nik Mystery EP on bandcamp is very far from good but significantly less terrible than Silhouette, props to past Spencer for not achieving peak bedshit ig

Album is quite inconsistent.
Seems the singles they dropped are the best songs here.
I really like this band and the grooves, vocals, drums. All good
This does seem like a step down from their last record, unfortunately
