I've never been the biggest fan of Valhalla's influence on the bands direction but I think Godforsaken and Songs of the Dusk are the best things that he has composed.
Also, love Niilo's use of oldschool vox on Flowers of the Night, so good.

I looked for it the other day and couldn't find it. On one hand, I kind of hope it continues to get taken down as it was a special release meant for people who purchased the 2 CD artbook edition as somewhat of a thank you gift to the loyal fans who support the band. On the other hand, give me the riffs.

yea, I respect the decision. though I wish it had a vinyl variant cuz I'd much rather shell out money for that than some CDs I cant even play

It will definitely get an offical release at some point. I cant imagine it remaining locked in obscurity forever.
Does add some mystique to the ep I must say, quite a rarity these days.

Yeah for me Godforsaken and Starless Paths are the absolute standouts on here, both reminiscent of the highs from Winter's Gate. I don't think they are enough to carry this album since I'm not entirely fond of half of the songs on here, but they have made their way into my playlist. The opener and Lilian are also decent, but the album really drops off in enjoyment for me towards the end. The Witch Hunter is not a good song, and The Rapids is wholly forgettable.

searched for the EP on a whim last night and found an upload that was posted a few hours prior. really, really enjoyed it. makes me wish they wouldve done some more of that old school sound here, but maybe they'll incorporate it into their next release or something

I gave it a listen as well and it's very good, but I didn't find it drastically different in sound than their more recent full lengths. Maybe some of the melodies hearken back to the more "folk" sounding earlier days. I wasn't wowed by any specific riffs on it but I found the atmosphere and songwriting to be incredibly enjoyable on all three tracks. The first and third tracks, Flowers of Night and Song of the Dusk, are just beautiful. The second track Stained in Red is a rollercoaster ride of interesting melodies a little outside of their usual wheelhouse, a banging solo, some Opethian moments, really explores a lot of ideas for them. Definitely worth checking for anyone who is a fan of the band, might not blow any minds, but it certainly won't disappoint.

Here’s the bonus tracks (EP): https://youtu.be/85L4W5X8bnY
I hate that I can’t buy the EP as a stand-alone on wax. Already had ordered the basic version of the full length. Should’ve gotten the art book edition…
