I honestly thought they would mostly play songs from this album.

That’s generally how they used to do it. I saw them on their bedlam tour and it was mostly that album played in its entirety, if I recall

This reminds me of Refused when they toured to promote Freedom and they basically played TSoPtC in its entirety. Downright glorious.

@StrizzMatik Ah, I see. Omar seems to have a problem with drummers.

Even more manic than Bedlam?

Deloused is the best, for this you will pay a terrible price

"Deloused is in the bottom half of this band's discog yh. Not *bad* but ugh, so much of that songwriting feels cramped and manic in a way that burns me out"

Hmm... the sprawl was there, but energetic and (comparatively) laser focused. The same could be said for the 'Tremulant' EP a year prior, but that lacked decent production, IMO.

Early TMV had a hunger and energy that subsided over time. I reckon they carried some of that over from the then-recently broken up AtD-I.

I dunno, I just relistened to Bedlam the other day and I still think it's a good album. Not the best, but there are some bangers on it. Askepios was one I thought I absolutely hated back in the day, but I was raging to it when it came on.

Bedlam is one of my favorites tbh Absolutely love every track. I’ve also enjoyed making playlist of Bedlam and Octahedron as double album to add some more slow sections

If California wasn't one of your only two 5s, that'd be somewhat biting

Why so quiet all of a sudden? Where's the drama? Here's my Mars Volta ranking!

Really enjoying this. It’s far from perfect, but it’s a good chilled album.

The zane interview was really good as well

Unsure how to rate this yet, tho prob somewhere between 3.5-4. Was a little let down at first but the more I listen, the more I enjoy it and it's a very replayable record. I also hear hints of influence from Talk Talk, Kraut Rock and of course electronic music. Happy to be surprised, rather than bored.
