That ABC piece was great, really nice be able to peak behind the curtain and see what could have been going on

ngl if they gave every piece of this album to Whitechapel other than If A God Can Bleed it'd be a 4 easily. there's some inflections on an album like Kin that isn't that far off than this but it's executed much better.

This is the best band in history

They probably had a decent chance if they followed the opposite trajectory. Another universe perhaps

The band are at a point in their career where they headlined the biggest metal festival in the world and it’s clear they are catering to that crowd.
These songs are massive and clearly meant for festival crowds and sold out arenas. It was the same with “Reverence” and to a lesser extent “IRE.”
I actually think this album is fine for what it is. I don’t judge this new era of the band vs the metalcore era.

Yeah it’s pretty cringe a lot of the time. Winston’s breakdown callouts have always been LOL. Even more so here, I’d argue.
I really like The Greatest Fear and Soul Bleach, and I’m surprised how much I actually enjoyed the song Darker Still, despite the terrible whistling. Besides these songs and maybe Like Napalm, the rest of the album is pretty terrible.

Has their live game now run out? They used to crush live but id imagine all their newer material sounds a bit crap live

Their new stuff is actually better live, tbh. Just not his clean singing. And they still play old stuff. They played Boneyards for the first time in forever.

Thats good they do always put on a good show. Shame about Winstons singing in a live setting no matter if the songs arent great. I doubt ill go out of my way to see them live. Plus they seem adverse to touring in Australia now

4. The Greatest Fear - 3.5
5. Darker Still - 3
6. Imperial Hectic - 2
7. If A God Can Bleed - .5
8. Soul Bleach - 2.5
9. Stranger - N/A
10. Land of the Lost - 2
11. From The Heart/Darkness - 3
Total: 2.4/5
I think some of the songs are fine, some are brutally bad (what the fuck was “If A God Can Bleed?”). I’m surprised how much I actually like the song “Darker Still;” I think it works better that it should have. “From The Heart of the Darkness” is a pretty good album closer. The back half of the album, except “From The Heart…,” ”Soul Bleach” is some of the worst stuff I’ve ever heard.

Soul Bleach is kinda fun but those lyrics kill me. This isn't unlistenable overall, just very mediocre.
Hot take-ish. There's another universe where If A Gold Can Bleed is a cool track, I can see what they were going for. But man it's just hilarious to listen to as is.
