Sounds like a lot of underpinning ideas that were seldom built on

I like how Onirium and FrozenFireBug have the exact same avatar
Also, how are the bonus tracks so much better than a lot of the main songs? Never Have and Love in the Past Tense are fantastic

Also, Never Have gives me an oddly nostalgic feeling, despite only being released last year. Almost like reminiscing on old summers

As someone who's only heard In Absentia, Deadwing, and Closure/Continuation, this is my favorite of the three.

Luv u Sowing, but that’s a crazy take!
Agreed that Never Have and Love in the Past Tense are excellent, the latter being easily the best of all 10, and one of my favorite songs Wilson has written in many years.
Just noticed that Gavin Harrison co-wrote it along with most of the other songs. What an amazing musician he is. It’s not enough that he’s one of the top best drummers playing right now, but he can write great music too.

Sowing what this is the most boring thing they’ve ever made lol what goes on in that Sowing brain? Said completely with joshing love 😆

Yep, the album is okay and has a couple of moments - but ultimately is over shadowed by everything that came before. Hopefully this was just a practice run for something better. It’s not a bad album by any means but I don’t feel much motivation to come back to it that often. Just wish they were a full band and were writing new material together rather than reigniting old songs.

not sure what the bigger crime is between preferring this rote snooze of a 'comeback', or exclusively listening to the dime store alt-metal arm of their discog

To be fair, I prefer this to IA as well. In fact IA's in my bottom 3 PT albums these days

If nothing else, Of the New Day and Love in the Past Tense have a tremendous amount of replay value for me
Oh and Dignity is pretty gorgeous

Really can’t wrap my head around the intent of this album
1. Announce the band is over
2. Release arguably the band’s worst album, several years later, with an ambiguous album title that plays with the duality of endings and new beginnings
Anyone read any recent interviews and can shine some light on what the hell is going on with this project?

I have never claimed to be a Porcupine Tree fan, so I've heard what I've heard and have never made an attempt to explore everything they've ever done. This album might be a snooze for some, but I found it far more consistent and atmospherically engaging than the other LPs of theirs that I've heard.

How come I didn't know this album was ever a thing? Lemme put Utopia to the sidelines and listen to this for a bit.

Worse than On the Sunday of Life? lol

If you count the bonus tracks then this might be better than The Incident too, but yeah none of the others besides Sunday. 4/5 for me including the bonus tracks. Rats Return is the only dud on there, and it kinda kills the flow where it’s placed in the track list, but it’s smooth sailing after that. I guess the choruses of Herd Culling could’ve been better or cut down, and Of The New Day didn’t need the dumb metal parts, those are my only other issues.
