Oh definitely, that use of the word should absolutely be interrogated and I think Kendrick has earned the benefit of the doubt by now to actually look a little deeper. Even if you're not following along with the lyrics word for word, you can tell it's different than when Eminem called Tyler the slur just a few years ago lol

Well yeah there was certainly never any doubt that he was trying to make a point, it was more just about what that point was and whether or not it was effective and tasteful etc

Especially since I will likely never listen to that song more than one or two more times max

Considering that 99% of rappers are homophobic it's hard to wrap my hand around the fact that you choose to get offended by this song

i do not like that he used the word like 20 times but i did immediately look up the lyrics to the song and attempt to wrap my mind around it. maybe that ultimately is the point

I tend to cherry pick Kendrick’s good songs into a playlist and abandon the rest

i do however think that people would hyper analyze the lyrics to any song he ever puts out bc it's kendrick, so was it necessary

Literally even old heads, the most notoriously homophobic of the bunch, don’t use that word anymore. They have gone from dissing to praising ru Paul in songs even. Terrible take.

They don't use it anymore because they want to sell their music. They still believe those things lmao

I actually do. If you ever hang out with black and brown people you'll quickly realize that they are, socially, some of the most conservative people you'll ever meet.
