What the last three years of my listening have told me is if I was stuck for a year with either an alt rock radio station or indie rock radio station to listen to I'd plump for the alt rock without missing a heartbeat.
That might surprise people here I don't know, maybe not.

Agreed Pika, I nearly throw up when I hear the likes of klaxons, kasabian, arctic monkeys, kaiser chiefs, the killers, etc. on radio or at parties nowadays.

Neon Bible also grew on me lately, I find it very underrated.
The 2002 and 2010 records by BSS are top-shelf, fantastic stuff.

Probably why I'm repping Spoon, 3 near classics, 2 excellent albums, 3 very listenable albums with great moments, 1 difficult album (and that one has lots of support from some fans), the obligatory derivative and not great debut which I can easily forgive. I think spoon also don't get much credit for being able to weave quite a few styles into their own without it jarring.

nah, that doesn't surprise me Doof, but then I have the (possibly incorrect) assumption that your indie taste veers more towards the underground than your alt rock taste, therefore anything likely to be played on the radio probably won't appeal. As in, there are more 'fairly well known' rock bands (particularly 90s) that you actually enjoy

Neon Bible is a solid album tbh, don't get the hate on that one at all. The Suburbs was a respectable sellout, and then Reflektor was where things really hit the shitter
Spoon's latest was a pretty decent record tbh, but Kill the Moonlight was an absolute chore and put me off dipping into that discog any further eww
