Ah, good to see both the love and the un-love, this is always interesting. Especially from two of the biggest TG veterans.

Stronger is still giving me major 007 vibes.

Yeah BIM is super good. (Ahahhaha. Bim.)

Weightless still has to fully open up its (apparent!) secrets to me. Or maybe you are lying. That is a possibility too. Further research is needed, I'll report back later.

That is one sweet secret vocalise yes yes I hear it. #BIMforpresident

I think my main issue (love the record, so it's not too big of an issue) with this was also in your review. Pacing. It goes for a similar, dreamy mood for a little too often and thus the record can be a bit samey.

I'm safely on that middle ground RE We Rise. Don't dislike the chorus, don't think it's one of their best.

This is maaaaaaybe one of their weaker efforts, yet remains wholesome and quite lovely. It will crack my top 30 of '22 no doubt (final placement is pending).

Considering their whole discography, yeah I can agree with that.

More than trying to record a super reunion output, this album is just the band making a statement of "we're back, this is what you get for now, more awesome things will follow"...or so I hope.

Agreed, this is one of their weaker ones for sure.

That mainly says something about how ridiculously good their other output is.

Random observation 03/05/23: yknow that little key jingle in Black Is Magnified that gets played at the end of every other section and the very end of the song, subtly adding to the piece's character without really corresponding melodically to anything else at play, to the point that it's the last thing that comes to mind when you think of the song but it's kinda inconceivable that it wouldn't be there? don't Ulver do practically the same thing with the key refrain on Blinded By Blood?

Great observation, love those little touches that add so much character indeed.

There are strange and wonderful similarities between The Gathering and Ulver.

Is it me or does We Rise have an echo of Mandylion?

Oooooh I need to revisit this! A very 4.0-y 4.0.

Interesting observation that demands looking into Johnny.
