I still love the music but damn this band was more fun when they were completely anonymous

Agree but god be damned, Tobias did get himself quite the team after firing his old crew.

For sure. The opeth guy killed it on this album, and their live band is always entertaining no matter who it is.

This grew hard on me

the chorus is fine, the verses are just so bland, and I honestly don’t really like the riffs at all. Just feels lazy to me.
I do really dig the lead guitars in the back half of the song tho

Griftwoof might be my least favorite but damn did this record turn out to be fun and great.

I’d also say it’s probably the only one that has instrumentals/interludes that dont just feel like filler. They all fit in well, and honestly Imperium is such an amazing intro
|
| |
Instrumentals are indeed great. Bite of Passage could’ve been an intro or outro for me tho.
Imperium really sets the tone from the start.

Also love the horns that open Twenties. They should do more with that.

Speaking of Twenties, I nominate “You have a lot of god’s work to do.” As the best line on the album

Ghost related: Check out Magna Carta Cartels new album. Original Omega ghouls band. Seriously good, though different than Ghost.

No way this is better than Prequelle, c'mon. The first half of this is amazing, but the second half is almost forgettable. Not many tracks here can shadow the likes of Rats, Witch Image or Dance Macabre, maybe Kasarion and Spillways, but that's about it.

Dewi I fucking hate Dance Macabre lol. I’d take every track here over that one.
I dunno. Hate is a strong word for it. It’s okay. It’s that pop rock thing metalheads always criticize about the band but fully formed. goddamn is it overplayed. Every time I’ve seen them play it live I kind of check out.
