Withered Strands is repetitive? Of what, exactly?

hmm Vessels is pretty great and The Smoke of Many Fires is one of the best songs they've ever written

I mean both albums are monsters, but this has much better production and I like it as a whole better

This band is the definition of progression and improvement. Their first album was one of the most cliché and derivative melodeath albums ever released. They progressively got better until they released Vessels and this one, which are excellent albums. I think I prefer Vessels by a small margin but I will spin this again just in case...

Can't get into this band whatsoever. They're lacking so much energy. Very repetitive too. A poor mans Insomnium to me.

Maybe it depends on which band you discover first. I'm really trying to like Insomnium bc all the comparisons, but it isn't really happening.

Man i love insomnium but comparing them to Be'lakor seems nonsensical to me. Never even crossed my mind to compare them, and tbh insomnium lost their spark since shadows of the overrated sun. The idea that Be'lakor are a poor man's insomnium is just priceless. You have the equation the wrong way round if you're comparing the quality of the composition.

Idk, I felt like this album tried to convey similar atmosphere as some of Insomniums work but failed.

Insomnium's best album actually came after Shadows, so can't agree they've lost their spark

I do think Be'lakor are much more meticulous and I can't say the atmospheres they have going are similar to Insomnium

Insomnium's best album is either WG or STTDIACD and nothing else comes even close

ATWW and new one are massive snoozers

Winter's Gate is brilliant. They should work with Dan Swano more often.

Be'lakor's songwriting is significantly more interesting to me, as a matter of fact they are the most relevant melodic DM band of the last couple of years, in my opinion. Creatively, they reached their peak on the previous album.
