They're both fantastic, but I prefer this one by a tad tbh.

Really sucks i never saw them live. I had a couple chances. They're definitely near the top of the list of bands i regret never seeing

Can't get over how incredible and singular their last album ended up being. What a fucking band. RIP hard Mimi we love you.

As sad as the circumstances were, I think Mimi's death eventually helped elevate this work to another level entirely. It's now (at times) an absolutely exhausting, even upsetting listen, but perversely it has enhanced the emotional appeal.
I have to remember what the album was, a wildly creative reinvention that stood on its on terms as 'art' without the double-edged sword of emotional weightiness, yet it feels impossible to return. The result essentially just means I love this all the same and in some ways more, yet I don't take the decision to throw it on lightly. I have definitely considered 5ing this in the past.

Tragedy inspires great art. And yeah, it definitely affected the quality of the album, and some of her lines hit particularly hard in full context.
Without a doubt, this is their masterpiece imo

This definitely might be best album of the decade so far, and I say that as the biggest State Faults fan on planet earth

Haven't really considered the best albums of the decade so far tbh, been so lost in older music for the past year now. It's for sure up there; it might even be the #1

yeah, honestly I was just thinking this came out last decade until I saw that
definitely a contender, easy top 5. Technically I have Scarcity - Aveilut as a 5 (so it’s that), otherwise I can’t see anything surpassing this. I may do a recount.

Okay, more than I’d thought…
Scarcity, Fiona Apple, Trophy Scars, Alvvays, Ad Nauseam, Suffering Hour & Imperial Triumphant are my only 4.5s (Scarcity is a 5).
I’d place Low an easy 3rd at worst (v rough order). It’s a tough battle with Fapple. Probably a few ‘outsiders’ that need promotion tho.
