Does it help that I got into this record with knowing little to nothing about the rest of their discography? Heard Colors very randomly the last 10 years and know the intro to parallax 2. Nothing more.

I’ve had the same experience with the latest Gojira. Only knew one song of TWOAF by the time Fortitude came out. I eventually made my way back through the rest, but my love for Fortitude did not go away.

Same here but they never impressed me before, that's why I never tried to listen too much of them, I tried with this album and I still feel the same way.
