Didn’t even know this came out already! I used to fanboy BTBAM from The Silent Circus to Colo(u)rs and probably had all three fived at one point

Will check tomorrow but Does it have any recurring themes/melodies from the first album and if I haven’t dug a BTBAM album since TGM will I like this?

Sfumato sounds like something Four Seconds Ago would write, if anyone digs the vibe of that track I suggest you check out the album The Vacancy by them.

I really dig their uptick in synth use on this album, especially towards the end of the album where they start pushing almost 80s Rush territory with it.

I bet fantano will give it a high score, I do believe he liked Colors I. If he doesn't give it a formal review I will be shocked.

I always just assumed he hated them based on when he gave Parallax a 3, and then not reviewing anything they've done since

Was not really expecting him to review it but it's got a super high average on rym too so we'll see.

Fellas, if Lay Your Ghosts and Disease Injury Madness morphed into one, you'd get Revolution In Limbo......amazing song and already one of my favorites out of the entire discography

the thing with all those troll ratings is, that i rarely - if ever - see a compelling argument. its all just nonsensical trivial crap that could very well come out of some 5 year olds mouth. this especially holds true for bands like this.

then ofc u have all those edgy oneliners, ppl rating after 5 secs runtime and the occasional metal elitist who thinks music peaked before christ. pretty neurotic behaviour. how full of urself and how shoehorned into ur own tiny shitbubble do u have to be? jesus fuck get out of ur duckugly ass alrdy.

even if this aint ur cup of tea u have to appreciate some dude juxtaposing with his base thru these complex songs like carving a fucking cake. dont even get me started on those drums. production in general here is superb and crisp af, thefuck do u want? if some ppl have the nerves to 2 this then i rly wanna know what theyre listing to an a daily basis, must be some sort of secret gourmet club with records of unparalleled brilliance only.

guess its w/e, since "ItS aLl SuBjEcTiVe". no, go yankyerself dweeb

I think their songs have a bit more of a structure than than the haters give them credit for... particularly/at least on the non-Colors albums.

Coma and Automata in particular are mostly filled with normal songs that all have pretty standard prog metal structures.

@Titan Limbo is way too tame to be like either of those two songs. I get Disease and Lay Your Ghosts have segments of soft parts, but the extreme moments vastly out weigh the later. Where as with Limbo, it's a 50/50 split between the two sounds. Its what's throwing me off with this album, didnt expect it to be as soft as it is, expected it to be batshit like Colors I.

It's perfect in my opinion Tundra, insta-fave, and it sounds 10X better with the context of the rest of the album rather than listening to it alone. That chorus hits at just the right time after Monochrome and Double Helix.

I'm surprised with your take on this album man....

If anything, Fix the Error is most similar to Colors I cause that track always keeps the momentum going throughout. That was a big trend in albums before Coma, the momentum was only slowed for brief moments but the majority was techdeath riffy stuff. I give it a 3.5 which equates to great, I literally like it, just not as much as others clearly, if you think it's an absolute masterpiece more power to you.

Monochrome is their best opener since Mirrors, agreed.

I'm still having so much fun with this record, it's been on constant rotation since release.

Double Helix is such a banger, love how it's basically a re-worked version of Foam Born and Informal Gluttony at points.
