Pretty damn solid album that honestly got me a little more excited to finally check out their past few. I do think the mid section here is a bit weaker than the rest but still all solid and those songs feel like they'll grow on me. As of now I think Necrogenic Resurrection is my favorite jam here and also a top tier track out of their whole discography

Necrogenic Resurrection is a banger, it's also one of my favorites.

"Was gonna jam the previous ones to catch up before this but I got stuck on the new Bewitcher (which slays hard as hell btw, will review if nobody beats me to it!"

Looking foward to reading it. I'll take a peek at that Bewitcher album in the next few days.

Possibly my most slept on band of all time. Listened to them like 10 years ago or something and wasn’t into it. Spun this and their past 3 albums this AM, they all slay

finally jamming this now. loved Red Before Black so hopefully this one is on par

also, Pitchfork's summary is pretty accurate which surprised me

"Decades into their career and on their 15th album, the death metal legends have become their genre’s Rolling Stones: iconic, verging on cartoonish, always reliable. "

As much as I despise Pitchfork, that description is pretty on-point

i think this is basically like if red before black had its flaws ironed out (tracks more distinguishable, a little less thrashy, tracks more internally varied)

Does that make Corpsegrinder the Mick Jagger of death metal?

Also Notrap > Pitchfork

won't argue with that. Notrap is the man

I rarely follow Pitchfork but someone told me they were covering Cannibal Corpse which got me curious and just thought that statement was weirdly accurate. this review is spot-on as well ;)

Nowadays, Rolling Stones are a shadow of their heyday period, in contrast to Cannibal Corpse.

If Pitchfork was actually aware of CC, it would link them to AC/DC at least.

why, ac/dc haven't had a listenable album since the razor's edge

^^Their live shows are still massive, in contrast to Rolling Stones, plus their '90s-early '00s albums are a bit underrated.
