this is worse
mix is nauseatingly bad on both but at least ADTR has some ironic level of "haha" compared to the sheer fucking doldrums of any sort of enjoyment I could've gotten out of this
And 58 minutes?!?! Fuck off

Mix doesn't bother me at all. Plenty of problems here but I find that aspect easily acceptable.

If this were 8-10 tracks long, it would be a solid 3.5

That would still be 8-10 tracks too long

After listening to the new ADTR this sounds like a crowning achievement.

beats me why people keep pinning those 2 records against each other and rating accordingly, as if they share some band members or some shit
both suck on their own merits

Oh man... Production is mindnumbingly flat and compressed, with vocals that sit way too high. Honestly, if this record had more gritty production I think it would've actually made this sound better. Quite weird for a 'poppy' record. This also reminds me way too much of Bring me the Horizon. I've read somewhere they've worked quite a bit with Jordan Fish for this record, and Sam and Oli shared their 'learning to sing' process or whatever, but man, that doesn't need to make it sound so identical... The melodies all sound like Jordan/Oli should've sung them (Sam's vocals are quite alike actually), the guitar parts are really boring and it feels so soulless to me, partly due to the production, partly due to the lyrics, and partly due to boring, samey songwriting.
