i wanna thank you again for taking me up on my rec to listen to atliens (at last I think that was you lol). anyway, you made the mistake of "hearing aquemini before atliens"--which normally shouldn't be a bad thing. However, Aquemini, on the production side was far more expansive and down right lush compared to atliens. Also the subject matter they discussed was more diverse. ATLiens on the other hand is more of a stoned-at-night driving through ur block music feeling smooth as FUCK album. Super-focused, maybe only 4 or 5 vibes, all of them dark, chill, wu-tangy mixed with organized noise beats. this is paired with some of the best lyricism (and they switch styles on every song and it blends perfectly) I've heard in 90's hip hop. So compared to Aquemini it can seem dull once you get used the ATLiens vibe (no surprises like spottieottiedopaliscious, chonkyfire, and Synthesizer on this album!), but give me a night of peace alone, a joint, a secluded place and there's no better hip hop album than ATLiens for me..maybe liquid swords but it's close. Aquemini is somehow my fav album of all time (all genres) yet atliens is somehow my fav hip hop album lolol
