He’s a great lyricist it just doesn’t work with this production at all. He either needs to be more aggressive or it needs more hip hop elements like their last LP

"Horrorcore, also called horror hip hop, horror rap, death hip hop, or death rap, is a subgenre of hip hop music based on horror-themed and often darkly transgressive lyrical content and imagery. Its origins derived from certain hardcore hip hop and gangsta rap artists, such as the Geto Boys, which began to incorporate supernatural, occult, or psychological horror themes into their lyrics. Unlike most hardcore hip hop and gangsta rap artists, horrorcore artists often push the violent content and imagery in their lyrics beyond the realm of realistic urban violence, to the point where the violent lyrics become gruesome, ghoulish, unsettling, or slasher film- or splatter film-esque." - Wikipedia.

At least by this definition, how is it not horrorcore?

I'll check Addiction for sure. On first listen to this one I dig a few tracks a ton and then the rest in kind of on the fence about

This is basically experimental "glitch" rap with horror influences.

I would say Gravediggaz and Necro (Ill Bill sorta too) are more true to the horrorcore genre as a whole.

I think the reason why people scoff at the term "horrorcore" is because if there was a different sub genre for every different set of thematic lyrical content or imagery the world would be a much stupider place

It's a dumb "genre" with dumb parameters and could easily be done without

Got my latest issue of Fangoria in the mail today and they have a section about horror and rap over the history of hip hop that ends with an interview with theses guys. Man after reading that I wish they would have let me write that article instead
