Alright.
The joke is, it's ridiculous to say that the fix for the guy above's problem is to just not listen to certain tracks.
He's just saying that he would probably be giving it higher than a 4.0, not that he doesn't know how to use the skip button.
My comment was aimed at pointing out the absurdity of the stark recommendation. Apologies if it didn't read well enough, but that was the original intent.

i'm generally not a fan of skipping songs regardless. i like to listen to albums in full and album flow is an important thing for me.
I only really skip something if i really really hate it

I've been spoiled by playlists, so I only ever listen to the highlights after a while. A bit spoiled of me, but full albums in the car are always subject to skipping.

Exactly. I don't want to be skipping tracks at all. I used to only buy albums where I enjoyed every single song. One song that annoyed me or whatever, I just wouldn't put more time in. It's the ones that flow, like you're going on a journey. Those are the best kind of albums and the ones that I truly listen to over and over.

oh okay. they should cut some songs for you to make it more enjoyable for you instead of you just skipping the ones you don't like. makes sense. clearly i made a ridiculous and unreasonable suggestion.
continue to listen to songs you don't like in the name of "album flow." apologies for being so out of line.

use audacity to edit the tracks you don't like
or write an angry email to fleet foxes

"they should cut some songs for you to make it more enjoyable for you instead of you just skipping the ones you don't like."
Yeah no one thinks that though, its just that your way of deflecting criticism of the album is fucking dumb.

It's very weird to act like people shouldn't criticize certain things about an album? Like idgaf if album flow isn't important to you but if it's important to someone else they're allowed to not like an album for album flow-related reasons
Same as metalheads who say vocals/lyrics don't matter, maybe they don't to you but if the music includes vocals and lyrics then it’s fair game to dislike

Yeah, it’s like enjoyment of music is subjective or something.

I’m not saying people can’t criticize, lol. The guy literally said the band should have cut some songs. I innocuously offered an alternative to listening through songs he doesn’t like. Cue the butthurt.
I understand the point y’all are trying to make, but it’s narcissistic to imply that a band should cut songs from an album because you don’t enjoy them.
Really, that’s it. Stop making this about something it isn’t about. I couldn’t care less what someone thinks about this or any album - me and that dude have the same rating. This is probably the weakest Fleet Foxes album.

did you just call me stupid then try to act like I’m the one who is triggered? Reflect

What ridiculous logic. It's like saying it wouldn't matter if the band put a metal song with screams right in the middle of the album. Yeah, just skip it! Who cares about flow?

And to me it’s ridiculous to listen through a song you know you don’t like because of some moral obligation you have to see every album through to the end; to imply that the ideal solution is for the band to never have included it, as opposed to the affected listener simply pretending it’s not there (this is the solution actually available in reality).

And that's why I don't like the album as much as their others and don't really listen to it. It's not narcissistic. Christ, you do need a hug.

Whenever I see a part of a movie I don't like I simply fast forward through it

The song exists as a separate entity from the album; the scene does not exist as a separate entity from the movie.
I don’t watch movies twice, though, so I can’t truly relate to your statement.

The song does not exist as a separate entity from the album for everyone, not sure why but you really seem to be having a hard time grasping this concept

Lol yes it does. You can buy, download, or stream a single song - a standalone track which can also be experienced in in the context of an album. I’m assuming that since you aren’t acknowledging that fact you don’t listen to any playlists or singles ever?
When is the last time you bought, downloaded, or saw a single scene at a movie theater?
