Nah, I mean the way he does the growls and what the other people in this thread perceive as lack of power. He obviously doesn't do them like on the first two records, he sounded vile there.

Yes, but he injects enough melancholy into his voice to complement the music perfectly

He often sounds like he's sick of the world and about to die, especially on stuff like "Beneath Broken Earth". That's actually welcome for death-doom, lol.

Vocals in early times were one of the strong points of PL, now this album is good despite the vocals, not because of it. The clean vocals grew on me a bit, but still far from Draconian times greatness...

Anyway Ghosts and Hope Dies young are such great jams.

@EvoMorales: If this drum sound is among their best, I am glad that I haven't heard their other recent stuff. They are sounding sterile and artificially powerful ... that's fine for a lot of music, but not for warm and melancholic Goth Metal, taking the organic feel out of the music

[2] a bit sad when you remember Tragic Idol where he sounded amazing.

GOD ASKS NOT TO KILL

GODLESS SWORN TO KILL

Can't get enough of that chorus. Wish they repeated it once again before the solo

nick's vocals are just 'fine' to me.

i'm sticking with my rating. it doesn't blow me away but it's a hell of a ride when i spin it - it's like a more infectious enjoyable counterpart to their last record which was far more downtrodden.

@Donchivo

That name association, lmao. I guess I am more tolerant of that drum sound you describe. There are some instances where it can bother me too, but this album certainly isn't one of them.

@Axe

It's true that Tragic Idol and Faith have some of his best cleans.

@Hell and Chaotic

I love them too.

Man I love the vox here, I think they fit the music perfectly. The cleans sound fresher than in a very long time, like he's giving us something new. And the growls sound better than ever, at least to me. I'm pretty biased tho, he's one of my favorite vocalists.
