off my first couple listens to this and my first of the strokes in general and I'm feeling pretty lukewarm about it, just wish more songs were like the first. like even just one more uptempo song would've opened up the album a bit for me, but the closer and at the door are also nice

Anytime Fantano reviews an album i like, his least favorite song is always my favorite. Every time. Like it's happened over 10 times now. On this album he says Eternal Summer is without a doubt the worst song and It's my favorite song on here. I don't see how he thinks it's so terrible compared to the other songs.

For a while I thought I liked Fantano but the longer I follow him the more I realize he and I have like opposite tastes on most things. I very very rarely agree with him, he either likes albums/songs much more or much less than I do.

i dont like how fantano's metric for scoring albums is almost always like ''this is cutting edge so it's good'' or ''this isn't breaking boundaries so i dont like it'' to me that's really a stupid way to go about things. Who cares if it's cutting edge. Idk. If it's good I like it if it sucks I don't. I've even heard him literally say he likes something but it isn't cutting edge so he scores it lower.

Yeah. He’s a good reviewer and generally consistent I just don’t really agree with his approach generally. But then just when I think I understand him he turns around and gives the (totally fine, but totally safe) new Laura Marling album a 9/10 when he gave her last (better, more varied) album a 5/10. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

It's weird you say that because actually he used to be in his earlier days, more of a hipster reviewer. He did a lot of indie rock and dream pop type stuff, then it ended up that his audience were mostly hip hop heads so he does a lot more mainstream hip hop and pop shit now.
Believe it or not I used to watch him way back in 2010 when I was just getting into college, I used to troll him when he was newer on YT. He would respond to the troll comments back then. Pretty funny.
I am a hipster fan of Fantano's earlier days before he sold out.
