New one is definitely my favourite Twigs... no skips (although maybe a stop-early - not keen on Wanderlust).

ngl first four tracks of the new album are pretty meh, but it really hits its groove soon after. v considerate of her to boil everything you'd conceivably jam this album for in 2025 to a >3min digest on Sticky

I liked the title track a lot but everything else on the new one is just okay for me after first listen

Title-track is phenomenal and may have been the best song I heard in 2024. Second half of the album takes time, but grows.

So much of the new album sounds cool but just totally lacks personality, I’m surprised by how bland it is honestly. There are flashes of fka twigs here and there but overall I’m just not really feeling her unique presence on the new record

will take whatever personality the new one has over the one she flexed on caprisongs

not that that's ever been a make or break for her with me - always seen her as having one foot firmly in the ballpark of frosty arthouse - but even then, the new one is full of personable moments. s u p e r s o n i c p o w e r s! girl feels good/perfect stranger/closer are all hella bland and drums of death is a mediocre reheat of edgy pop stylings that haven't really been in vogue since around the time this dropped, but otherwise I do not feel this crit at all

That’s fair dawg! I liked caprisongs a lot, that release is the closest i have felt to her on anything she’s put out. But i did also assume that it acted as some sort of pop purge for her and that she’d be returning to her more experimental roots on the new album a bit more
But for me the new album doesn’t blend the world of pop and experimental as well as I was thinking it might; it just sounds confused about what it wants to be. Magdalena bay? Jorja Smith? Charli xcx? Bjork? I have no issue with artists experimenting with their voice and as mentioned i thought eusexua t/t was brilliant so im not opposed to wearing influences on sleeve, she’s clearly trying to be a bit more accessible which i think is great but im not sure she’s quite figured out how to do it while keeping what makes her unique on the table… it just ends up sounding a bit generic
It’s totally serviceable and she’s definitely singing her heart out. I probably have it rated a tish low at 3.0, i could see my rating going up to around 3.5. But not much higher than that. Anyway I’m probably rambling at this point, but yeah, am disappointed personally but glad you are finding a bit more to enjoy about it
