So far this probably ranks a little below Integrity Blues for me, but above Chase This Light and Invented. But it feels like a companion to Integrity Blues. At some point their albums become so different and unique that it feels wrong to even rank them. Like trying to pit your favourite horror film against your favourite romcom. Doesn't make much sense because each serves their own, very different purpose. Integrity Blues walks all over this album for emotion and atmosphere. But it doesn't have those last 2 tracks and Criminal Energy makes Get Right sound like a Coldplay song (little nod to Anthony Fantano there).

555 has clicked for me. It's almost like I can't remember what I didn't like about it. I think it truly was demo-itis. I was so used to jamming the live version that the album version felt wrong. I'm hoping the same happens for me with One Mil and Surviving.

One Mil is the best song here imo

"555" just keeps getting better for me. It's a real tasteful pop song imo. That's the Jimmy night driving sound I love.

One Mil is the best song here [2] slex with the correct take once again
I can't help imagining 555 with some Futures production instead of the CTL style it has. like that song with some moody keyboard loops and some ethereal backing vocals? absolute kino

Gotta jam this.

Where the fuck did Congratulations come from?
That’s how you end an album.

I actually don't agree with some people who say 555 sticks out like a sore thumb on the album. It has Delivery before it to bring down the volume and energy so the transition into it kind of makes sense. And once you get used to the way the synth sounds and start to just focus on the voice and lyrics, it doesn't seem so jarring anymore.
In terms of sequencing, if I have one complaint I'd maybe say that All the Way (Stay) > Diamond > Love Never is too long a stretch of high energy songs in tandem. I'm ready for a bit of a come-down after the sugar high of Diamond, but Love Never just keeps the energy going maybe a little too long. I'd have maybe gone 555 > All the Way (Stay) > Diamond > One Mil > Love Never.
Also I wonder if it would have been a cool idea to have Recommit earlier in the album just so you don't have the two weird proggy cousins sat together at the end.
There are so many theoretical ways an album could have been arranged. So this is just a minor "complaint" that's more of a curiosity than a complaint.

I can't believe they made Congratulations. I honestly didn't think they had it in them.

I am pretty obsessive when it comes to re-arranging tracklists to improve the quality of records (in my head, that is), and honestly, even though I get why people would say this doesn't flow well, all I know I was blown away at first listen with how it is.

I'm already working on my personal preference ordering and it involves putting All The Way at #2 but I'll post later when I have it all figured out

I think this benefits on the shock value of how different and stronger the latter half is, and it also has Criminal Energy as a warning sign of what's to come.

yeah Criminal Energy is like the best song 2 candidate they've made since A Praise Chorus I can't imagine moving it
only thing I can imagine changing on this tracklist is... fucking adding half heart to it goddamnit jimmy

Swapping out Love Never with Half Heart would solve my concerns about the energy being too high for the 3 song run. And Half Heart is a better song. Or just inserting Half Heart between Diamond and Love Never would have been pure perfect. And they'd have hit the 11 song sweet spot for this band. Why oh why didn't they do this.

Criminal Energy is their best dirty rock song since Nothingwrong.

yeah the Diamond into Love Never transition feels slightly awkward anyway so I agree with placing it there, half heart could've used a solid re-recording cos it sounds demoish but it could've been an absolute classic

Criminal Energy is fucking kickass. Loving this so far.

I agree that adding half heart somewhere on the second half wouldn't hurt this at all. I'm wondering if there will be any bonus tracks or deluxe edition for this since Jim stated they recorded 15 tracks total.
